Specialised Accommodation

Disability HousingDisability BathroomNormus Urban Projects provides quality special purpose homes catering for the individual needs or physical challenges of someone living with a disability.

Due to the complex nature of the projects it is important to understand the specific needs of disability housing providers. Detailed architectural plans and specifications must provide the correct information which is imperative to facilitate the intended outcome. It is about getting the detail right. We are proud to build for Strathmont and Julia Farr and have been recognised by winning two major awards for ‘Special Purpose Housing’ in the last five years.

In 2010 we completed several special purpose homes for the Strathmont Group in Broadview. This project was extremely detailed and involved regular on-site meetings with architects and the team from Strathmont to facilitate the high care specifications. Many design decisions were made on-site to provide the optimum outcome for the end user and carers. The supportive feedback from the in-house carers recognised all the improved design features especially in the wet areas and kitchen facilities. The judges from the Housing Industry Association (HIA) commented on the outstanding workmanship.  The homes were awarded major winner ‘HIA Special Purpose Housing’ in 2010 and won a commendation in the National Awards in Queensland. In 2011, Normus Urban Projects won back-to-back the ‘Special Purpose Housing’ award for the Julia Farr project at Swanport Road, Murray Bridge.

abled Building ConstructionNormus Urban Projects completed 20 homes for Accessible Housing which were built to various levels from low care to high care with ‘live in’ carers facilities in four of the homes. Accessible Housing were delighted with the positive input provided by Normus Urban Projects during pre-construction and throughout the building phase. The homes have a diversified street appeal and have been completed to a very high standard.

We are proud to partner with these organisations to provide quality lifestyle opportunities for the occupants and the in-house carers. These homes bring disabled patients out of an institution and accommodate them in a safe home environment.  Normus Urban Projects understands the complex nature of specialised accommodation and we have the expertise to achieve the intended outcome.

Other projects completed for our client, include five homes at Campbelltown and three homes at Clovelly Park for Julia Farr.  The homes were architecturally designed and constructed, specifically for people living with a disability, with the street presentation of a modern day home.
